PHOTOGRAPHY II

In this intermediate course, students improve their creative and technical skills and, through lectures and assignments, explore the aesthetic and compositional aspects of photography. Presentations on historical and contemporary artwork introduce various photographic genres, such as portraiture, landscape, and documentary. Using Adobe Lightroom, students develop effective workflows for sorting and editing images. As they work toward developing a personal visual language, participants also learn advanced techniques for converting images to black-and- white.

Prerequisite: Photography I: Digital, Adobe Lightroom for beginners or portfolio review.

iPhone Photography II: Advanced Techniques

In iPhone Photography 101 you learned the foundational building blocks of photography. In iPhone Photography II we’ll go hands-on with advanced photography techniques that will take your images to the next level. You’ll learn how to shoot in manual-mode, unlocking the iPhone’s full potential. We’ll discuss tips and tricks for photographing food, people, travel and more. Intro to Off-Camera Lighting

In this two-day workshop students will learn the basic fundamentals of using a single off-camera flash to shoot powerful, dynamic portraits in a variety of environments. The course will cover camera settings, types of lights, modifiers, wireless flash triggers, and other accessories as well as how to engage with your subject to get amazing images every time. We'll also delve into post-production workflow—from organizing and importing images using Adobe Lightroom to final pass touch-ups in Photoshop. The course is designed for photographers who are new to off-camera lighting techniques.
